Act 2 sport science practical

On the 12th of February we had 2 activities in groups, we were split into groups of 5 and 6. The first activity was 'plank walking'. The activity involved the group standing on two planks with ropes and trying to work as a team and by moving the planks, walk across the field to a cone and back. The second activity was called 'stepping stones'. This involved using little squares of wood as stepping stones to cross the field as a team without touching the ground or losing contact with the piece of wood.

I would put my participation at achieved level because I had my PE gear on and ready for the activity. We were out of the changing rooms really quickly and had help set up the activity, lifting the planks onto the back field and carrying the box of wood as well. I had also offered a suggestion of sliding the planks of wood when getting tired of lifting and because we were short one person, I had offered to hold the extra set of rope so it doesn't get tangled with the others. I had also offered myself to put in the end of the line of the 'stepping stone' exercise to pick up the wood after everyone had gone past.

There were several factors that influenced my participation on that day. The first would be weather, the heat itself made us sweat and the sunlight made us want to hide in the shade making us feel less than excited but when it started and our team was struggling with the first step, Tom took charge and we all fell into line. After a couple steps our teams spirit must have been lifted because we were going faster and faster until we were coming second but when we had to stop and go back our team work crumbled after we were half way back to the finish line. Our team work crumbled to the point where Tom wanted to win so badly he picked up the plank and ran with it to the finish line but this caused us to receive a penalty of a -1 as our score. We also got another penalty in 'stepping stones' as well because we had past the finish line leaving all the 'stepping stone' wood still on the ground.

If I was to improve my participation to give me a higher grade, I would bring a hat to avoid direct sunlight and to bring a water bottle to cool myself down. Like this I think things would go smoother with less people getting anxious and more calm thinking being done. I would also try out at being a leader a little so cheating wouldn't become an option
