Act 6 sport science practical

On the 20th of February, we had 2 activities. The first was 'straw tower'. It was an activity where we were split into 4 different groups, each group a different colour, and we had to use straws to build up a stable tower that was able to stand by itself. The second was 'egg basket'. It was an activity where we had to make a basket out of the straws we used from the 'straw tower' and other equipment like feathers, balloons and ice cream sticks, and then we would put an egg in the basket and drop it from a specific height.

I would put my participation at achieved level because I had helped construct both the tower and the nest. I also supplied the straws and kept them from being blown away. An idea I contributed to the construction of the tower, was to build it like the Eiffel Tower or like a pyramid. My idea was to build a strong base and thin out near the top, trying to make it go higher.

Several factors influenced my participation on the day. The first was how interested I felt about the activity. I thought that the activity was not interesting so I was not that motivated to do it. The second was how I under estimated the task. I thought that making the tower was going to be very easily but when we were actually doing it and running out of time I was starting to panic with the tower because no matter what we did it wouldn't stop drooping.

If I was to improve my participation, I would try to look at the brighter side of the activity in hopes of trying to get myself motivated to do the task with all my ability. I would also try to do my hardest from the beginning so we won't need to panic when times running out and it wouldn't droop to the side because we would have thought of a better way for the tower to be made. Another way to improve myself or the team would be to plan ahead, instead of just the doing the first idea that comes to mind
