Act 5 sport science practical

On the 18th of February we had two activities. The first was the 'spider web'. It is an activity where there is a spider web made of rope and you and your team have to go through the gaps of the web to get to the other side using different holes. The second is 'tent building', it is an activity where your team have to use the equipment given and build the tent without help.

I would put my participation at achieved level. This is because I had brought the right gear and had helped throughout the activities. I had helped lift the light people on to the top part of the web. I had also helped carrying Aubrey through a hole as well. With the tents I had helped with connecting the poles and lifting the tent itself as well.

Several factors influenced my participation. The first was faulty equipment. The tent equipment that we were given had one pole that was too short and couldn't hold the tent up properly. Another setback was the ropes on the web, they had drooping lines which made it harder for the people to crawl through. Another factor was team work. There were people unwilling to be held and carried through the gaps making it longer for us to finish and then there were people who grabbed them roughly and just tried to throw them through. A positive influence was when we were building the tent, we had built it up quickly and everybody had their own job to do, the only problem though was the pole but other than that it went well.

If I were to improve my participation, I would try to help out more with the heavy lifting so people wouldn't get irritated and rough with the others. I would also try to take on more of a leader type role so others would trust me more and they wouldn't need to feel self aware. Another reason would be our tent construction, everything went well but we didn't have a leader so if we did have a problem there would have been a power struggle, there would be people arguing with each other trying to get their voices to be heard.
